Spiritual Teachings
These are some of the people who's spiritual books and teachings I really enjoy.
- Eckhart Tolle
www.eckharttolle.com
Author of "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth", Eckhart's teachings revolve around bringing your awareness into the now - being fully present - and so allowing love into your life. I find just hearing his voice pulls me back into the present, and I very much enjoy his peaceful, quiet sense of humour, while also recognising the truth in it. I cannot recommend him highly enough! - Neale Donald Walsch
www.nealedonaldwalsch.com
Neale's "Conversations With God" books are beautiful and enlightening. The God he speaks with isn't the Supreme Being with a beard who stands in judgment over us, but rather the essence of the All and the Everything of the universe - both the seen and the unseen - which is life and love. - The Teachings of Abraham
www.abraham-hicks.com
I was going to try to explain exactly who Abraham is but I think it's better to leave it to the website as I don't think I can do justice. Wonderful, straight-forward and practical teachings about consciously creating the life we desire and the Law of Attraction.
Learning Photography
Below are some online resources if you're interested in learning more about photography.
- photo.net
www.photo.net
A fantastic site with lots of articles, equipment reviews and forums, and where you can also upload your own photos for critique. When I was first starting out learning photography I spent a lot of time here reading articles and people's questions in forums, and it helped me a lot. The forums are great if you need to know how to do something (either by finding an answer or posting a new question) and also to help you research what equipment would be best for you. - Luminous Landscape
www.luminous-landscape.com
A site specifically about landscape, nature and documentary photography. Here you'll find more articles, forums and equipment reviews.
Photographic Equipment
Photography can be expensive at the best of times, and for whatever reason camera equipment in Australia can be more expensive than overseas (I believe it's the importers making all the money as it's certainly not the retailers). You can make it more affordable by buying from overseas stores, second-hand or on ebay.
Whatever you choose to do, make sure you check out all the warranty details so you know what you're covered for, and make sure it's from a reputable dealer. Be aware that with some warrantees if the equipment needs to be repaired or replaced you'll have to send it back to where you bought it from rather than to your local manufacturer, so make sure you know this before you purchase!
Below I've listed places I've bought from and been happy with. I can only provide you with my experience (and I've never had a problem with a piece of equipment, so have no experience with servicing from any place) - in the end you need to do your own homework and make sure you're happy with whomever you buy from.
- Bentley's Camera House - Pacific Fair, Robina, Indooroopilly, Chermside, Strathpine
www.bentleyscamerahouse.com.au
Bentley's have 5 stores on the Gold Coast and Brisbane, Australia. They have an excellent range and very knowledgeable staff who all love photography (I may be a little biased as I currently work part-time in the lab at the Pacific Fair store, but it's true!) Bentley's also have this awesome Metallic Pearl paper (called Platinum) which makes landscape and Black and White prints look AMAZING!! - B&H Photo Video
www.bhphotovideo.com
Huge store in New York with all things photographic (not to mention much other audio/visual equipment).
If you're ever in New York go and check it out - it's photographic heaven! - Adorama
www.adorama.com
Another large camera store in New York. - KEH
www.keh.com
A second-hand camera store in the USA. Both B&H and Adorama have used departments as well, though without the range of KEH. Buying second-hand from one of these three places (where they give the item a rating that you can trust in) can be a great way to save some money - particularly on refurbished or like new items (usually it's where someone bought it, changed their mind and sent it back, so hasn't ever been used. I bought my 24mm lens like this and it's been perfect!) - ebay
www.ebay.com.au
There are quite a few places selling camera equipment on ebay (usually out of Hong Kong). I'd personally recommend buying from one of these stores over an individual that's just decided to get rid of their equipment - and obviously check out all their feedback and warranty!
