FAITH

“…makes all things possible”
~Dwight L. Moody

Faith

What’s the difference between the person living their dreams and the person not?

Faith.

It’s faith that allows you to take action even when you don’t know where to start. It’s faith that keeps you pursuing your dreams even when things don’t turn out the way you’d like. It’s faith that lets you dare to dream in the first place!

I love the saying, in all the various forms I’ve heard it, “Whatever you can conceive and believe, you can achieve.” That if you dream it you have the means to achieve it, you just need FAITH.

You don’t need to compare yourself to others or judge yourself – just be you. Have faith in yourself and in the perfection of the universe (realise that we often can’t see the big picture) and follow your bliss.

For years I believed my photography wasn’t “good enough”. Eventually I realised I was comparing myself to the likes of Ken Duncan and Peter Lik, who’d been taking photos for many more years than I had, and that of course they’d had to start somewhere too.

So I stopped comparing myself to others and just allowed myself to be me. And importantly, to allow other people to see my work however they do. Some aren’t interested, some believe it’s magnificent, and by having faith in the truth of my heart and soul and allowing all opinions to be completely ok has given me enormous freedom and peace.

Intention For The Week

However the road to your dreams looks at the moment, keep faith that since you’ve dreamed it, you have the means to achieve it.

Simple Empowerment Steps

  1. Keep Moving!
  2. Ask, “What step can I take today that will take me closer to my dreams?”

It doesn’t have to be a big step, it just needs to be a step. Dreams don’t arrive by waiting around, they arrive by continuing to take steps towards them.

The journey may not always be what we expect, and it may take longer than we’d like, but it’s by having the faith to keep on taking the next step that they are achieved.

  3. Follow Your Inspiration
  4. The biggest steps towards your dreams will occur through inspiration. Allow yourself to be open to different ideas and actions, and follow your inspiration when it happens!

  5. Most Importantly, Remember to Enjoy the Journey!
  6. Stop making the destination – the dream – the most important thing. Yes it’s important to have dreams and to move towards achieving them, but don’t make it at the cost of having fun along the way.

If you don’t enjoy the journey you either won’t reach the destination because you’ll give up because it’s too hard, or when you do achieve your dream it won’t give you what you wanted.

So make each step fun and worthwhile, in and of itself. In that way, every step is an achievement, and regardless of how long it takes to reach your dream, you’ll be HAPPY, which is what you really want, isn’t it?
