Give as generously to yourself as you do to others.

Do you give more to others than you do to yourself?

Have you noticed there are days when you feel like you just have no more to give?

Have you noticed an attachment to other peoples giving towards you? Maybe not with everyone, but maybe there’s one or two people who you (most likely unconsciously) expect to act in a certain way – a way that you believe will give you something (most likely emotionally)? And when they don’t give you what you need you feel upset, disappointed, hurt, angry or deflated?

If you relate to any of those questions it’s time for you to be as generous with yourself as you are to others.

It’s time to give fully to yourself.

You’ll know when you do because there’ll be an overflow that will naturally spill over into giving to others, and you’ll no longer have any attachment – conscious or unconscious – to what anyone gives you, as you’ll be givingĀ yourself everything you need.

I felt this aspect of generosity was important enough to have its own week as I know the difference it makes to my life when I give fully to myself. And I know just how easy it is to forget!

Intention For The Week

Notice any underlying expectations of others and give to yourself what it is you expect to receive from them.

Addendum: I wanted to share with you that after I finish writing each of my newsletters I ask myself the question, “What is the message here for me?”

Sometimes I’m already conscious of the message and why I’ve been asked to remember it that week (as with “Courage”).

Other times I’ll become aware of something completely new, which brings about an action that is completely new, which in turn creates a possibility that didn’t exist before (as with “Presence”).

Either way I’m reminded just what an amazing world I live in!
